Alessandro Mendini, a fixture of Italian design, was born in 1931 in Milan. A journalist and director of such renowned magazines as Modo and Domus, he plays, creates the anti-design movement and the zany Proust chair. He also works for the biggest companies, from Swatch to Alessi, and co-founds a museum in collaboration with Philippe Starck in Groningen. Oh, and these two models, Time and Space.
