How do I remove the door handle?
The first step in installing a new door handle with rosette is to remove the old door handle, the one you want to change.
Take a close look at your current door handle to determine how it was fixed.
If your old door handle is secured with screws, you'll need to use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws and remove the handle from the door.
If your door handle is screwless, you'll need to use a flathead screwdriver to pry the rose plate off the door. Once you've removed the rose plate, you can remove the door handle by sliding it out of the square.
How do I fit the door handle?
To fit the new door handle with rosette, you'll need a screwdriver, sometimes a drill and a drill bit adapted to the size of the screws used to fix the rosettes.
Here are the steps to follow:
More often than not, your door handles are supplied with an assembly guide. You can rely on it and follow the suggested steps.
If your new door handle with rosette does not come with instructions. We suggest you follow the steps below:
- Start by attaching the rosettes, which consist of a return spring and a cover (the rosette).
- Identify which spring should go on which side of the door. In fact, some springs have a meaning that is indicated by the letter L (for "Left") or R (for "Right") on the face of the spring. The L spring is placed on the left-hand side of the door, i.e. where the hinges are on the left. The R spring is placed on the right-hand side of the door. In other words, where the hinges are on the right.
- Fix the spring to the door using the screws supplied
- Clip on the spring cover you have just installed.
- Insert the square into the hole in the door
- Attach the 2 crutches to complete the assembly.
To fix the crutches, you need to push the 2 crutches in as far as they will go, then use an Allen wrench to tighten the pointed screw at the base of the handle/crutch. For aesthetic reasons, the screw should be located under the handle.
- The setscrew will press into the open part of the square and spread the pins that will permanently fix the handle to the square.
Your assembly will be perfectly executed if :
- There are no gaps between the lever-handle and the rose, which form a perfect whole.
- Your door handle is perfectly horizontal when not in use
- You don't need to tighten it regularly.
